Do you know the way to San Jose (WorldCon76)?

I know I’m far from the first to use that joke WRT this year’s WorldCon, but it’s the first time I’ve used it, okay?

Heading south to California on Thursday, with my WorldCon76 schedule a bit in the air (my roommate is dealing with family health issues, so I may be staying somewhere other-than-planned for the weekend).  But if you want to find me, here are some guaranteed spots and times, all on Saturday, August 18th:

SFWA Table (autographing and shilling advocating for SFWA)
11am-11:30am (location TBA)

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Last Unicorn
1:00 – 2:00pm, 230 (San Jose Convention Center)

Come talk about this classic of fantasy literature! Your favorite scenes, characters, and what it meant to you, in a Q&A with its creator. And Prizes!
Jacob Weisman (Tachyon Publications) (M), Peter Beagle, Laura Anne Gilman, Brandon Sanderson, Effie Seiberg

Autographing
2:00pm – 3:00pm, (San Jose Convention Center)
Ada Palmer, Melinda M. Snodgrass, Wesley Chu, Maya Bohnhoff, Kate Elliott, Laura Anne Gilman

(bring new copies.  Bring old copies! Bring cash to buy copies of things you might not be able to find elsewhere!)

The Body and The Shadow of the Imagination
4:00 – 5:00pm, 211C (San Jose Convention Center)

How necessary is the visual or descriptive charge of an image in science fiction? How much do you have to let the viewer see and when do you suggest so that the reader’s imaginative engine works by itself? How do we open dialogues with the reader or viewer so that they activate their own channels of imaginative communication?
Felecia Caton Garcia, Libia Brenda, Iliana Vargas (M), Laura Anne Gilman, Mary Anne Mohanraj

And to see how many people actually read these posts through to the end: if you happen to see me walking around the convention center (NOT while I’m on panels or signing), I will have a Special Gift for the first three people who walk up to me and say “I accept the Devil’s Agreement.
