Tease Tuesday for October 22

Every Tuesday I take a small chunk of something I’m working on – fantasy, mystery, mainstream, whatever… and post it.  No titles, no other info, utterly random.

Y’all can give feedback or not, as you wish.  Or even try to guess what it’s from, if you’re so inclined.  There may or may not be a prize for getting it right.

There will be no prizes for nitpicking typos: all teases are from works in progress, which means typos are a natural side-effect of production.

Elizabeth ached for a challenge.  She looked around her, in the city and their infrequent trips beyond, and saw new and strange plants that she longed to touch, taste, learn.  Trees that were taller and older than anything back in England, berries and grasses that looked familiar, and yet different enough to make her wonder what might be done with them.

She hated living here, cooped up between red brick walls.  Her gift was not meant for cities, for tiny glass houses and narrow strips of flowers.  Her parents, so understanding otherwise, could not see that.  They did not understand the need that drove her to restless distraction.
